About Me...
I am a mother of two teenagers; a daughter and a son. My son has autism...
I am also a writer. I have been writing for over 20 years.
While my writing started out purely as an enjoyable hobby, it soon became good therapy, particularly when I felt the need to express what was on my mind, no matter whether the subject was uplifting or sombre; it was always good therapy - personally.
At one stage, I had also considered the idea of undertaking a journalist course to help further my writing skills. However, when my second child was eventually diagnosed with Autism and Intellectual Impairment, my writing career was suddenly put on hold and I literally stopped writing...
Eventually, in an attempt to keep up with my writing, I turned my skills to something, which I'd never thought about, let alone imagined I would ever do - I decided to write a book - a memoir - about my personal experience of living with and raising a child with autism and intellectual impairment; the full details of which can also be found on my Facebook Page: Heather Golding - Author.
This has ultimately led me to become a memoir writer and published article writer about many diverse topics, which are personal to myself, by merely documenting much of life's experiences: both good and bad; happy and sad. No matter what the subject, the inspiration to write about it has always been and will always remain good therapy, which in turn helps to save my sanity in this often mad and insane world...
My biggest triumph however, is surely my personal achievement - to write a book - about my young son's autism and how with my continued love of writing, has not only helped me to approach such a personally affected subject, my writing has also helped me to find some peace.
