I have blogged about procrastination before, however it would seem that the more I procrastinate with my writing then the less momentum I have for keeping up with the task at hand.
Sure, I might Post several comments about writing on my public facebook Author Page, but am I really writing, or am I just procrastinating and putting off the inevitable that more serious writing needs to be done and less chatter about writing needs to be said? Interesting thought.
But rather than just talk about it , here are some interesting comments below, about which I've read and or written and on which might explain the difference between these two words more clearly:
"Momentum is everything. If you write regularly, it is easy to keep writing. If you stop for a while, even for a week, it is much harder to get going again. And if you write most days, your story will remain alive in your imagination and thoughts. One of the great pleasures of writing a longer piece of work." "It does not matter how slowly you write, just as long as you do not stop" Confucius - From The Writers' Studio - 5 November 2013
"I had the delightful pleasure today to finally have a rare few hours to myself to work on further updates, as well as add some additional information, not previously written for my memoir. I feel this has now helped to strengthen and add more clarity to what was otherwise a rather difficult chapter." From Heather Golding - Author - Facebook - 26 October 2013
"Procrastinators - it is easy to come up with hundreds of good reasons every day not to write. The trouble is, thinking about writing isn't writing. The magic happens on the page. The act of writing is what connects us to our imagination, the true source of creative power." From The Writers' Studio - 2 October 2013
"The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt." from Freedom with Writing - Sylvia Plath - 9 March 2013 (and) "You know you're a writer when you fear for your sanity after yet another unnecessary interruption." From The Writers' Studio - 11 November 2013
These were just a few of the comments I'd come across on the subject of Momentum vs Procrastination. There are other interesting comments of course, but I will share them here another time.
Happy Reading and of course Happy Writing
