ON THIS DAY - 10 March, 2015
I'd been to see my Dentist, which is not the pleasantest of visits, but it was the pleasant conversation that I had with the young Dental Assistant that I would like to share with you, especially since it is Writing and Book related:
While I was sitting back in the dentist chair, waiting for the anesthetic to take affect, she casually asked me what do I do for work?
My casual reply was: "I am a full time carer for my son, but I also do a bit of writing."
"Oh wow!" she gasped. "Do you write novels?" she asked.
"No," I replied. "I write the occasional article, oh and I've also written a memoir," I added.
"How exciting!" she gasped, again. "Are you going to get it published?" she asked.
"Well, yes, I had planned to get my book published this year, but these dentist visits have just wiped out most of what I'd saved up towards the cost of self-publishing!" I casually replied.
"Oh dear!" she responded. "Sorry about that..."
"Not half as sorry as I am, " I thought to myself...
And that is how you abruptly end a pleasant yet casual conversation... just before the Dentist *moves in for the kill* ... Ooouch $$$$$$
However, as most of you know, by now, I DID manage to eventually get my book: "AUTISM ON THE FRONTLINE" successfully and independently self-published, in the following year of 2016.
So for any budding new Writers or Authors out there, who might be feeling a little discouraged about the cost of publishing their book or novel, just remember this; no matter what obstacles might get in the way of your publishing dreams...
~~ DREAM IT, WISH IT, DO IT! ~~
Happy Writing and Publishing Everyone...
