"I often find after a few weeks of non-productive writing, that when I do finally manage to achieve a few hours of reasonable and creative writing, it makes me feel much better, especially with the knowledge that I've still "got it" - Author Page - 2/8/2012
"While I have been absent from my website for various reasons and circumstances beyond my control, I have however, been writing several journal notes off line, which will hopefully become future articles or possibly more reference information for further memoir writing" - Author Page - 1/1/2013
"While I have felt very despondent about my lack of writing, I had been reminded some time ago by a brilliant Writer, Publisher and Editor, Jodi Cleghorn that: "All writing is awesome writing!" Not only did her words of encouragement inspire me, I had unexpectedly found myself doing exactly that... I actually did some awesome writing that same evening! And even though it had simply been a letter to a friend - it was still writing nonetheless! I had felt exhilarated by the fact that I'd managed to do some writing, especially after so long without achieving anything at all. It had also been suggested by Jodi that I consider posting a picture of my letter onto my author page as an inspiration to others to write letters - and I did just that!" - Author Page - 24/1/2013
And this had been the lengthy discussion that transpired amongst the group of Writers...
"The art of letter writing appears to be disappearing," said Sharon Norris. "As we tend to use 'instant' communication methods like Facebook & Twitter etc. Glad to see you're still keeping the art form going." - Author Page - 28/1/2013
Personal letter writing is a fabulous way to get back into finishing your Memoir," said Karen Tyrrell. "I know you're so close to the final draft." - Author Page - 28/1/2013
"While my Memoir is technically completed," I responded. "It still needs to be professionally edited. However, I find that by keeping up with my personal letter writing, I am actually strengthening my memoir writing with the idea of hopefully writing a second Memoir as a possible follow-up" - Author Page - 28/1/2013
"I find it challenging to hand write my personal letters, preferring to type them for both quickness and neatness. I also find it an absolute thrill to physically put the words down on paper and actually post a local or overseas letter to friends and family." - Author Page - 28/1/2013
Having been a prolific letter writer in my late teens, I feel this has actually formed the foundation for my article and memoir writing in my later years. "Letter writing is a personally satisfying way in which to tell a story, where the author is guaranteed an audience." Powerful words from Jodi Cleghorn again. Until then, I had never looked at letter writing that way before! I realised. Yes, powerful stuff! After all, letter writing, as Jodi says, "is only a 'lost art form' if we allow it to be," she said. That is so true! I also found that many of my chatty letters or emails would always end up becoming pages and pages in length, which would often resemble either an essay or bordering on the size of a memoir - ha! ha! Hence my eventual love of Memoir Writing thereafter... Author Page - 30/1/2013
Therefore, to conclude my Blog on the Art of Letter Writing, I thought I would include a couple of quotes that I'd come across when reading various comments about the Art of Writing...
