Unfortunately, for me however, my current status of an Unknown (Book) Author still remains as that of an Unknown (and unpublished Book) Author! This is despite my many attempts to try to get my book published. Whist it is difficult enough to carry the unenviable status of an Unknown Author, it is even more unenviable to carry the constant burden of self-doubt and low self-esteem, which does nothing for the Author in their attempts to become noticed, let alone taken seriously, but most of all recognised for the book that has been written!
However, rather than go into all the sordid financial and often humiliating details of my long and drawn out attempts to simply have my book published, I thought I would Share here the article to which I refer above, which at the time had struck a particularly personal chord with me and which in fact still does, when reading it again only recently... I quote:
"People keep asking me - why send a book to an international book fair? The simple short answer is - Australia is far too small a market to make an impact with a book; unless of course you are a Sports star, Movie star, [or as I've often said myself - someone who has sailed around the world in a little pink boat - ie Jessica Watson] or someone very well known and well connected. This is the sad facts for many unknown authors and why the big guys rarely take on new authors nowadays.
Like it or not, but the days of sending your manuscript to a publisher, getting it accepted and sitting back, waiting for the cheques to roll in are finished - never to return! You can thank the Internet for this turn of events, but it is not all doom and gloom - it is actually the best thing that has happened for the unknown author.
Publishers love to see authors who have had a go - got their book published and got a bit of exposure for it. It certainly helps them and [it] cuts down their costs if they decide to pick the book up.
So where do authors get the kind of exposure for their book, where a publisher or agent can easily see it? International Book fairs of course - this is where they all are and where all authors should be as well. As I said, it's a simple short answer."

Therefore, I also thought it to be quite appropriate to conclude my Blog about Unknown Authors by adding yet another little interesting piece here that I also read on Facebook some time ago. And as a Writer of Fact myself, and with some basic knowledge of Journalism, I found this quote rather interesting...
"In journalism just one fact that is false [can] prejudice the entire work. [However] in contrast; in fiction one single fact that is true [can] give legitimacy to the entire work. That's the only difference, and it lies [within] the commitment of the writer." - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
