I came across the following quote, a couple of years ago when I began to take my writing a little more seriously than I had done previously. Therefore, as I begin to find the courage, to write again, as I blog about my writing, I would like, once again, to share this quote with you...
"One of the things that happens when you give yourself permission to start writing: you start writing like a writer. You start seeing everything as material. Sometimes, you will sit down or go walking and your thoughts will be on one aspect of your work, or you will just be completely blocked - feeling hopeless and wondering why you should not just go into the kitchen and have a nice glass of warm gin (or in my case, a nice glass of Baileys). Then unbidden, seemingly out of no where, a thought arrives. Some will float into your head, like goldfish - lovely bright orange and weightless. You follow them, like a child looking at an aquarium that was thought to be without fish..." from "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott - [Posted by Pen Musings via facebook, 23 October 2011] and slightly re-edited to suit me, personally...
